The Andaz Lisbon, by Hyatt, is a recently opened hotel built on the foundations of a historic bank. It caters to both tourists and locals, offering a relaxed vibe for after-work drinks and dinners.
Location and First Impressions
A 40-minute drive from the airport, the hotel is a stone's throw from the Rua Augusta Arch. It is a 12-minute walk from São Jorge Castle and Mercado da Ribeira, and about a kilometre from the train station. The interior features hand-painted ceramic pieces by artist Sofia Cruz, an 18th-century tile panel found during restoration, and a large painting by Francisca Coutinho. The restaurant Luzzi has an orange and green ceiling and a kaleidoscope blue floor.
Rooms and Pricing
Room categories range from standard twins to a premium loft and the Presidential Suite. A King bed deluxe room is bright and airy with massive windows. Prices range from around €300 a night (£258.50) to around €1,900 a night (£1,637) for the Presidential Suite.
Food, Drink and Facilities
Facilities include the restaurant Luzzi, rooftop bar Z Terrace, the Andaz lounge, and parking for 38 vehicles. Guests can bring pets under 20kg. A spa and fitness centre are under construction.
Special Experiences
The hotel organised a street art tour with artist Miguel Brum, including the chance to create graffiti. Other signature experiences include joining a local fisherman, horse riding, exploring Lisbon's nightlife, visiting a Masonic palace, and learning about fashion heritage.
Verdict
Staying at Andaz Lisbon was a wonderful experience, one of the most unique hotels in terms of design, ideal for a short trip but worth a longer stay.

Standout features: location, interior design, and special experiences. Perfect for solo city breaks, romantic getaways, business trips. Not right for families with children.
