Adam Peaty fears another family 'bombshell' ahead of Commonwealth Games

Adam Peaty is reportedly concerned that tensions with his family could overshadow his career and home life as he prepares to become a father again and aim for a historic fourth consecutive Commonwealth gold medal in Glasgow. The Olympic swimmer and his relatives fell out before his marriage to Holly Ramsay, and he is said to worry that his parents may reveal further drama.

A source told The Sun that the situation is “relentless,” adding: “This could be a career-defining moment for Adam, but there’s always the looming possibility that someone from his extended family will try to detonate another bomb.” The couple announced their pregnancy last month, but days later Adam’s sister Bethany reportedly claimed she is at loggerheads with Holly. Bethany was the only relative to attend the couple’s wedding at Bath Abbey on December 27.

The insider described the wedding woes as “acutely painful” and said there appear to be “troublemakers” in the Olympian’s family. They added that the drama is not something Adam and Holly want, and that Adam is focused on winning in the pool.

Holly shared an Instagram story showing Adam in a new swimming cap featuring a double-barrelled surname, captioned “So Special.” Ahead of the Games, Adam said he wants people to focus on his exploits in the pool, telling The Independent: “That’s the Adam people should see – the racer. Everything else is my private life.” He added: “Pressure can be given to anyone, but it’s probably best in my hands because the more pressure I’m under, the better I perform.”

Adam acknowledged that he and Holly have not managed the “noise” around their romance as well as they could have, but insisted the swimming will do the talking. “We can’t control every variable in life, but I can stand behind the blocks and not really care about what people’s opinions are. Being at peace with a 100m or 50m breaststroke race is a beautiful place to be.”
