Christopher Lambert, star of the Highlander franchise, suffered a medical episode at Steel City comic con in Pittsburgh, with medics rushing to his aid. The 69-year-old actor collapsed while signing autographs and was taken away by ambulance.
Health scare and recovery
His representative later released a statement saying the star had been running on no sleep and had barely eaten, causing his blood sugar to plummet. He was said to be “perfectly okay” and resting in his hotel room.
It was confirmed that Lambert would still appear on Sunday (August 9) at the convention after collapsing on Saturday (August 8). Steel City con wrote: “Christopher Lambert will be attending Sunday. He will be there at 11.30AM.”
Previous incident
The incident comes after Lambert fell on stairs in a hotel in May 2025, suffering a back injury. He underwent physical therapy and was forced to pull out of last year’s SciFi World convention.
His reps said at the time that the actor “wasn’t allowed to travel or move for one month, according to his doctor”. The statement added: “As an actor, filming and promoting his films are an absolute priority and has always been, and while he has the highest respect for people organising events and fans who attend; unfortunately, this time he will not be able to attend the Comic-Con.”
Memories of Sean Connery
Lambert previously opened up about working with Sean Connery on the iconic Highlander movie, telling HeyUGuys in 2016: “We became very, very good friends. We clicked immediately, it was great. Sean is a very… he’s just a straight guy. He either likes you or he doesn’t, end of story.
“Like most Scottish people, what you see is what you get. If they like you they love you if they don’t like you they punch you. You know where you stand.
“But we got on great from the beginning. He’s a generous guy, he treats everybody on the same level which is right because everybody’s role is important on a movie set, as in life.”
