One of the stars of High Potential has shared an 'incredible' update ahead of the much-anticipated third season of the crime drama. Fans face a longer wait than previously for new episodes, with ABC, the US network behind the series, deciding to move the next instalment to midseason.
This means that viewers can expect Season 3 in early 2027, once again streaming on Disney+ in the UK. For those who don't know, it is based on the French Belgian series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI).
Premise and Cast
Following a similar premise, High Potential focuses on a single mother with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective. Fans have been hooked on the series, which stars It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actress Kaitlin Olson in the lead role as Morgan, ever since its debut last year. It's also a big hit with critics, boasting an impressive 98% rating on website Rotten Tomatoes.
Work on Season 3 is well underway. Now, one of the regular stars of the show has shared a behind-the-scenes update. Matthew Lamb posted a selection of images on his Instagram page.
Matthew Lamb's Update
Matthew plays Morgan's son Elliot on the show. Like his mother, Elliot is also deemed a high potential individual. While Season 2 seemed to focus more on his on-screen sister, fans speculate he could have a bigger role to play in upcoming episodes. His post on social media was captioned: "Best Day Ever at 'work!' So excited for Season 3 with our incredible writers and show runners! Plus the nicest people ever!"
Alongside it included images of Matthew, 13, alongside a poster advertising the show and others of him stood outside the writers' room. He was also snapped alongside the new showrunners, Nora and Lila Zuckerman. The siblings are taking over from Todd Harthan and most recently ran the debut season of crime drama Poker Face, created by Star Wars director Rian Johnson. Their impressive credentials also include having previously worked on Suits and Agents of Shield. They were also involved in the cancelled Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot.
Nora even commented on Matthew's post saying: "We were all so excited to have you visit the room! Promise we did not also plan on it being Take Your Kid To Work day on the lot, but it was perfect!"
Behind the Scenes and Fan Reactions
With the studio being owned by Disney, the actor also got to meet some iconic characters from other franchises. His images included him hugging and posing alongside Winnie the Pooh. Fans were quick to share their increasing excitement to see that work is well underway behind the scenes on the new season. A fan page commented: "Can't wait to see what's coming!" To which Matthew replied: "Me too honestly!"
With the writers' room currently underway, it is expected that filming could begin very soon. High Potential is streaming on Disney+.
