Helen Skelton's Love Life: Split and Co-Star Rumours

Helen Skelton is a beloved TV presenter who regularly hosts BBC's Morning Live during the week. The 42-year-old notably co-presented the BBC children's programme Blue Peter from 2008 until 2013 and has been a presenter on Countryfile since 2014. She also co-presented two series of the BBC One programme Holiday Hit Squad alongside Angela Rippon and Joe Crowley. Helen made an appearance in the iconic Strictly Come Dancing ballroom in 2022, where she achieved second place alongside her professional partner Gorka Márquez.

Who is Helen Skelton's famous ex-husband?

In December 2013, Helen married England national rugby league team player Richie Myler. The couple had three children together: Ernie, 11, Louis, nine, and Elsie, four, during their eight-year marriage. However, in April 2022, Helen announced their split in a statement on Instagram, saying: 'Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.'

Helen later opened up about the pain she endured during the split in her autobiography, In My Stride. She wrote: 'I was in shock. I know that following break-ups, people often say they didn't see it coming and it sounds like a cliche, but that was me.' The presenter faced more heartbreak when Richie moved on with marketing executive Stephanie Thirkill. The couple welcomed their first child together in April 2023.

Romance rumours

Speculation has been rife in recent years over a possible romance between Helen and her Morning Live co-star Gethin Jones, though both have firmly denied they are dating. Addressing the rumours in December 2025, Helen set the record straight, saying: 'We just work together, we are not together. No, no, no. We are just work friends. They printed pictures of us at work and that we're together because we are at work together.'

Opening up about his bond with Helen last year, Gethin told The Sun: 'We are very supportive of each other, we like to look out for each other. I think that's fair to say on and off camera. You sometimes could get... you might need a little pep talk every now and then. Because she's very passionate.'

Morning Live airs weekdays on BBC One at 9.30am.
