Helen Mirren and Brosnan Face 'Civil War' in MobLand Trailer

Dame Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan return to the helm of the Harrigan mafia family who are “on the brink of civil war” in a first look at MobLand series two. The award-winning actors star in the Paramount+ crime series as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan – the heads of a powerful mob family who clash with the rival Stevenson family in a high-stakes battle for power.

Trailer Reveals Explosive Action

In an explosive new trailer released by Paramount+ on Thursday, the formidable family are met with guns, violence and death as their criminal empire faces its latest threats. The star-studded cast also features award-winner Tom Hardy, who opens the action-packed trailer back in his role as Harry Da Souza – the “fixer” who is called up to make a problem disappear when things go awry for the Harrigans.

He slides open the door of a van to reveal what appears to be a captive inside, and tells the intimidated individual: “This hasn’t exactly been a wonderful 24 hours for me.” “I’m under a lot of pressure”, he says as the trailer shows a clip of him being held at gunpoint in an ominous setting, surrounded by henchmen.

The Harrigans Rule North London

The heads of the Harrigan crime family and their children are then shown as Hardy’s voice can be heard saying that the mafia clan “run north London”. The action-packed trailer is set to Firestarter by The Prodigy, and includes scenes of violent confrontation and gun fights as Brosnan’s character exclaims: “We are the Harrigans!”

“Don’t know the name? Then Google us,” he adds, accompanied by his laughing mobster wife after the couple seemingly shot up an establishment. Explosions, intimidations, blood and chainsaws are then seen in rapid succession with Dame Helen and Brosnan at the centre of the action as the trailer escalates – while a voice says: “This family is on the brink of civil war.”

Weapons, Cash and Chaos

Brosnan and Hardy’s characters are seen brandishing weapons such as guns, a hefty stash of cash is revealed and police raids and car chases are shown as the trailer hints at yet another explosive season. Dame Helen is seen drinking a martini and firing a pistol amid the chaotic clips showing murder victims, drug stashes and a car being blown up.

The sneak-peek then returns to Da Souza speaking to his apparent hostage, who apologises for his entanglement with the Harrigan family. “Thank you,” Da Souza responds, shutting the van door and driving away as the chaotic trailer comes to a close.

Cast and Premiere Date

The upcoming series will consist of 10 episodes, and will see the Harrigan family struggle to show a united front while confronted with rising rivals – with “fixer” Da Souza at the centre of the drama. Alongside Dame Helen, Brosnan and Hardy, the show features House Of The Dragon’s Paddy Considine and Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt alongside Top Boy actress Jasmine Jobson. Other stars include Da Vinci’s Demons actress Lara Pulver, Anson Boon from Pistol, Top Boy’s Geoff Bell and Emily Barber – who is best known for Industry. MobLand series two will premiere globally on Paramount+ on September 18.
