Celebrity guests at the launch

Helen Lederer looked at home as she arrived to experience the gangster drama's latest chapter. Su Pollard turned heads in a colourful statement jacket and a striking red floral headpiece. Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, whose original vision for the Shelby family has been transformed into a real-life experience, also attended. Football star Bethany England was among those stepping into the Shelby universe, swapping the pitch for the gritty surroundings of 1920s Birmingham.

Inside the Underworld experience

Inside, the atmosphere becomes intense, with actors recreating the world of Tommy Shelby and his family. Guests find themselves surrounded by tense conversations and suspicious characters. One scene shows the Shelby clan gathered around a table in a beautifully recreated room, with tempers flaring as a sharply dressed character gestures angrily during a heated family discussion. The attention to detail is striking, from period furniture and wallpaper to costumes, lighting, and props, designed to make visitors feel as though they have wandered onto the set.

Key attractions and areas

At the heart of the experience is the Garrison Tavern, the Shelby-owned pub recreated for visitors. It is open to everyone without an Underworld ticket, giving fans a chance to soak up the atmosphere before heading deeper inside. Beyond the pub, ticket holders can venture into a darker world with interactive challenges, live performances, and unexpected encounters. Actors take on familiar figures from the Peaky Blinders universe, bringing the distinctive swagger of the Shelby family to life. The attraction also recreates lavish interiors associated with Tommy Shelby, contrasting the family's criminal dealings with their sophisticated surroundings. Visitors move through different corners of the Underworld, including Garrison Lane, The Bookies, Chinatown, and Small Heath Fairground, each packed with its own characters and challenges. The Bookies gives fans a taste of the Shelby empire, inviting visitors to get involved in the gambling world central to the family's rise. A suitably intimidating Tommy Shelby appears, with an actor cutting an instantly recognisable figure in his trademark peaked cap, cigarette, and steely expression. Underworld offers fans the chance to leave modern-day London behind and spend an hour living by the rules of the Shelby family.
