Harry Potter actress Evanna Lynch has married French gardener Denis Skinner in an intimate London ceremony. The 35-year-old star, known for playing Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films, wed Denis at Islington Town Hall on August 21.
Just 20 of their closest friends and family members witnessed the ceremony before celebrations continued at Wilton's Music Hall. The newlyweds were treated to a swing band and vegan cake as they marked the occasion.
Astrologer's advice on wedding date
Evanna's route to the altar was far from conventional, with the actress seeking guidance from an astrologer before deciding when she and Denis should marry. Before settling on a date, she consulted an astrologer who advised her to steer clear of a solar eclipse.
Evanna explained: "Her thing was to avoid the solar eclipse. I can totally see why. Lots of my friends have been sick, or a family member has died – it's been very dramatic."
How the couple met
The couple first crossed paths in a Camden bar in 2021, when Denis was working as a barman. Evanna kept going back to the venue hoping something romantic might happen. Her persistence paid off when Denis slipped her a handwritten note with his number.
The pair became engaged in 2023, although Evanna admitted the proposal came after they had a "big argument". Speaking to Vogue, she recalled: "It was 2023, and we had a big argument. It felt like a break-up argument. Like the, break-up argument." She later admitted it was a "terrible way to get engaged". Denis then proposed again at Evanna's cousin's allotment.
Wedding details and past relationships
On the big day, Evanna wore a vintage puff ball skirt sewn to a Moira Hughes corset from Ellie Sanderson. She decided against giving Denis a traditional wedding ring, instead presenting him with a charm necklace featuring his dog's tooth.
The actress previously admitted she had been sceptical about a lavish wedding. She said: "When we started the wedding planning process, I was a bit disparaging of it all. It's so over the top. It's so lavish. But, as we've gotten closer to it, I've realised how unique and special it is."
Evanna's love life has previously included a nine-year secret relationship with her Harry Potter co-star Robbie Jarvis, who played a young James Potter. The pair split in 2016, with Evanna later enjoying a brief romance with singer-songwriter AnDel in 2017. She returned to social media last year after stepping away from the spotlight for two years, launching a new blog.
