Harry Potter Fans Call for Preservation of Dobby Grave

A Harry Potter fan has urged the National Trust to preserve a tribute to the character Dobby, located above Freshwater West beach in Pembrokeshire. The site, where the elf's death was filmed for the movie franchise, has become a pilgrimage spot for fans.

Victoria Maclean, a fan who visited the grave, expressed her surprise at the emotional connection people have with the fictional character. 'I can’t believe how much one fictional character can bring so much love to people,' she said.

The National Trust, which manages the area, has commissioned a survey to gather public opinion on whether the grave should remain or be removed. The trust noted that the site has faced pressure due to concerns about its environmental impact on the coastal area.

The tribute, consisting of painted pebbles and other mementos, has attracted increasing numbers of visitors since the film's release. The trust is balancing the cultural significance of the site with the need to protect the natural landscape.
