Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning to humiliate Prince William with what has been described as an “act of war” upon their return to the United Kingdom. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be preparing a major announcement regarding the Invictus Games at a location that holds deep personal significance for the Prince of Wales: Villa Park, the home of Aston Villa Football Club.
Bombshell Revelation on Podcast
On a recent episode of The Daily Expresso podcast, host JJ Anisiobi revealed to TalkTV presenter Mark Dolan that Prince Harry intends to make a significant announcement about the Invictus Games at Villa Park. “I have been told, and I feel this is a dig at William, Harry’s going to make his announcements in Birmingham at Villa Park,” JJ stated.
The revelation stunned Dolan, who noted that William is a devoted Aston Villa fan. “As we know, William is a huge Aston Villa fan. He travels around the world watching them. He’s a massive supporter. It’s going to be a huge dig at William: ‘here I am in your football club announcing my Invictus Games’,” Dolan responded.
Significance of the Venue
Dolan elaborated on why the choice of Villa Park is particularly provocative. “The reason why that’s significant is that Harry is parking his tanks on William’s lawn. William’s great loves are the United Kingdom, his family, particularly his wife and children, and Aston Villa Football Club. He lives and breathes it, he’s so passionate. I think there’s a sense of his second family about that club.”
The Sussexes’ plan comes shortly after confirmation that they will return to the UK with their children, Archie and Lilibet, after four years in the United States. The visit is for Harry’s one-year countdown party for the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured, and sick military service personnel, which the Duke founded in 2014.
William’s Loyalty to Aston Villa
William’s 25-year dedication to Aston Villa is well known, making Harry’s choice of venue especially pointed. Dolan described it as “an act of war.” He said, “If he goes to Villa Park, that’s an act of war. Because Villa belongs to William, it’s his property, it’s his emotions, it’s his backstory, it’s his narrative, in many ways, it’s one of the few human things that we know about William.”
Dolan referenced Aston Villa’s recent European trophy win, where William was seen celebrating enthusiastically. “I was so happy to see [that] happen. And then Harry goes there and tries to own that space,” Dolan remarked, adding jokingly that Harry probably thought Aston Villa was a “holiday home in Spain” previously.
Prospects of Reconciliation
Earlier in the podcast, JJ and Dolan discussed the possibility of reconciliation between King Charles’ sons and their families. However, Dolan dismissed the idea, citing a source who claimed William “effing detests his brother.” The cousins—George, Louis, and Charlotte—are reportedly caught in the ongoing rift.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to fly back to the UK next month, though the exact date remains unconfirmed.
