Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been mocked in a brutal Saturday Night Live sketch following their return to the UK. The couple, who stepped back from royal duties and the UK in 2020, are now living back in Britain for the first time in six years.
Sketch mocks Netflix deal and royal tensions
The Season 2 premiere opened with a sketch showing actors Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye, portraying the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, visiting King Charles and Queen Camilla, played by Larry Dean and Emma Sidi, at Balmoral Castle. The sketch suggested the couple had run out of money from their Netflix deal.
“Daddy,” Harry addresses his father, “I’m home.” “Don’t tell me you’ve spent all your Netflix money already,” the King asks, to which Harry responds, “It was $60 million. How long was it meant to last?”
Camilla line references Oprah interview
“Hello, sweet Harry,” Camilla says, adding, “And beautiful Meghan, as brown as ever”. This is an apparent reference to Harry and Meghan’s accusation during their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey that a member of the Royal Family asked how dark their then-unborn son’s skin might be.
Using reference to her Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, she then told the Queen: “Hey Step Queen. I brought you a gift. It’s ice. I made it myself. I can give you the recipe. I’m kind of a wiz in the kitchen.” “It’s true,” Prince Harry then chimes in. “She hires the best cooks.”
Couple reportedly settled in Cotswolds
The couple have reportedly moved to the Cotswolds with their two children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, who are already enrolled in a new school starting this month. Though there is much speculation over their decision to relocate, Page Six has suggested that they “think cash is a big” reason.
