Erling Haaland will have the support of his long-term girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, when he attempts to knock England out of the World Cup in Miami on Saturday night. The Norway striker, who was born in England, has scored seven goals in the tournament, including a brace in the last-16 win over Brazil.
How They Met
Haaland and Haugseng Johansen are both from Bryne, Norway, where Haaland's father, Alf-Inge, settled after his playing career. They played for the same junior club, Bryne, but only connected after Haaland moved to Borussia Dortmund in Germany. Haugseng Johansen made the first move by sending him a message.
"She sent me a message. She played for the same club I played for, Bryne, so she checked me out. I didn't check her out," Haaland told NRK with a grin. "I was single for quite a while. From my experience, you find your girlfriend when you least expect it. If you're always looking for a girlfriend, you'll never find one."
Family Life and Hobbies
The couple have a son, born in December 2024. Haaland revealed their shared passion for gaming: "It's going to be quite embarrassing for her that I say this, but she likes to game too. So we game Minecraft together. We just sit and game and make houses together and everything like that. Or we go home to Bryne and order kebabs."
Social Media Presence
Haugseng Johansen, an ex-footballer, has built a following of 72,000 on Instagram. She has posted regularly from the World Cup, including images in a Norway shirt, denim skirt, and cowboy boots. Most of her recent posts are celebratory shots with Haaland.
Haaland will face several of his Manchester City teammates in the England squad, including Marc Guehi, Nico O'Reilly, and former City star John Stones.
