Kristin Cabot, the former HR chief at Astronomer, has criticised Gwyneth Paltrow for appearing in a promotional video for the company that made light of the kiss cam scandal that derailed Cabot's life. Cabot resigned from her role after being caught on camera embracing Astronomer CEO Andy Byron during a Coldplay concert, an incident that went viral in 2025.
In an interview with The Times, Cabot expressed her dismay at Paltrow's involvement, calling her a 'hypocrite' for mocking the scandal. Cabot said she disposed of all her Goop products in protest, as she felt Paltrow's company, which promotes women's empowerment, should not have made fun of her situation.
Paltrow, who is the ex-wife of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, was hired as a temporary spokesperson for Astronomer. In the video, she addressed the company's data automation services while deliberately avoiding the kiss cam incident, which had generated widespread attention.
The video, which garnered over 30 million views on X, was seen as a cheeky attempt by Astronomer to capitalise on the scandal. Cabot, however, felt it was insensitive and undermined the seriousness of the event that led to her resignation.
