BBC Radio 1 host Greg James has revealed he and his wife Bella had a secret dinner with TV presenter Graham Norton and his husband Jono ahead of Taylor Swift's wedding to NFL player Travis Kelce. The wedding took place last Friday at New York's Madison Square Garden. James disclosed the details on his BBC Radio 1 breakfast show, explaining that the dinner was arranged so the couples could meet each other before the star-studded event.
How the dinner came about
James and Norton first discovered they were both invited to the wedding when they appeared together on ITV's This Morning in October 2025. James recalled: “There was an episode of This Morning where, weirdly, I'd been booked on the same day as Graham Norton. So, Graham Norton was the only other person in the UK who was publicly invited to the wedding back in October when Taylor Swift was doing the interviews, so she invited me, and she invited Graham Norton.”
During the This Morning appearance, Norton jokingly claimed he hadn't been invited, but James knew otherwise. After the show, James approached Norton in the dressing room and suggested they talk. “I said, 'we should have a chat, shouldn't we?', and he went, 'yes, we absolutely should have a chat',” James recounted.
They arranged a secret dinner, but Norton later suggested they meet at his house instead of a restaurant. “So then, here's some good tea for you… we then arranged to go for dinner, because he'd never met my wife, Bella, and I'd never met his husband, Jono, so then we arranged to go and have a secret under the cover of darkness dinner, and it was like The Traitors meeting in the tower,” James said. “We were going to go and have dinner in a restaurant, and then he messaged to say, 'maybe let's not do a restaurant, why don't you come around mine?', so we went for a secret dinner around his actual house to talk about it.”
At the wedding
James shared several details about the wedding itself. He confirmed there was no sitdown dinner, and guests mingled freely. “A lot of the Brits did sort of congregate for a bit, and then everyone went off and did their own thing,” he said, noting that he met actor Hugh Grant and his wife at the event.
The radio DJ also revealed he spoke to both Swift and Kelce, who were “very busy” but looked “amazing.” He told Swift, “Do you know how difficult it's been to keep this a secret, doing a radio show every day?”
James admitted to stealing two doilies from the chairs and dancing on stage after an invitation to all guests. He also joked that “the first 10,000 drinks were free” and confirmed there were multiple wedding cakes. The venue used the same arena toilets as for sporting events: “The venue looked beautiful, and it was all decked out as a wedding venue, but you know, arena toilets are arena toilets, so just toilets, you know.”
Wedding details and guests
Swift's cats were not present. James wore a tuxedo he had previously worn for a funeral of a large duck called Longboi, a regular feature on his radio show, while his wife wore a red dress. The wedding reportedly had about 1,000 guests, was officiated by Adam Sandler, and a billboard outside read “JUST&T MARRIED.” Other guests included Ed Sheeran, Gigi Hadid, and Bradley Cooper.
The couple's romance began in 2023 after Kelce publicly expressed interest in Swift on his podcast, which Swift later called a “wild, romantic gesture.” Swift made her first TV appearance on Norton's talk show in October 2025 after her engagement in August, jokingly saying she planned to invite “anyone I've ever talked to” to her wedding.
