Greg James mocks Leonardo DiCaprio over Taylor Swift wedding snub

Greg James has taken a playful swipe at Leonardo DiCaprio after the Hollywood star was absent from Taylor Swift's wedding to Travis Kelce. The BBC Radio 1 DJ, who attended the ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City, pointed out that DiCaprio was present at a Brazil vs Norway World Cup match the following day but had not been on the guest list for the wedding.

Posting on social media, James responded to a fan who asked how it felt to be one of the few people at the match who had attended the wedding. "Really great actually thanks for asking," he wrote. "Particularly good because Leonardo DiCaprio was at the match looking all smug there in a hospitality box but wasn't at the wedding. That's showbiz Leo!"

A star-studded affair

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, both 36, were married on Friday July 4, 2026, in what has been described as the most star-studded wedding in history. The guest list included Ed Sheeran, Steven Spielberg, Hugh Grant, Selena Gomez, and around 1,000 other guests. The venue was transformed into a whimsical woodland for the occasion, with a performance from Sir Paul McCartney and the ceremony officiated by Adam Sandler. The couple wore Christian Dior.

James documented his trip to New York on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself and his wife Bella Mackie in their lavish outfits. He described the weekend as "completely insane" and admitted to suffering from a "world's greatest hangover" the morning after the wedding. He also managed to secure a last-minute ticket to the Brazil vs Norway match on Sunday, skipping his breakfast show on Monday.

How the invite came about

Swift had promised to invite James to her wedding during an appearance on his BBC Radio 1 show in October 2025 to promote her album The Life of a Showgirl. During the interview, James joked about Swift's relationship with Kelce, and Swift replied, "The way that he's going to do that as soon as he sees you at our wedding – that's gonna happen." James was stunned and asked, "Am I coming?" Swift confirmed, laughing that "people don't think [they're] actually friends."

James later revealed that he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and could not confirm his invitation until after the event. He shared a photo of a slice of pizza on Saturday, writing, "I am currently experiencing the world's greatest hangover and unable to reply to the hilarious number of messages I have received over the last 24hrs. But just to say: true to her word, of course the invitation arrived and I couldn't tell anyone. And oh my God, what an unbelievably brilliant night. I'm off for a nap."

Details of the wedding

The ceremony included 20 minutes of personalised vows from the couple. Taylor's brother Austin served as her "man of honour", while Travis's brother Jason was his best man. As Swift walked down the aisle, a string version of one of her songs played, and Travis's nieces threw petals at her feet. Attendees described the evening as "emotional" and "unforgettable", with Travis's mother calling it "magical".

Swift's aunt, Robin Gentry, told LBC News while leaving the event: "They cried. They laughed, and they danced, and they hugged, and they kissed."

Other British guests included talk show host Graham Norton. DiCaprio, despite being namechecked in Swift's 2019 song "The Man" ("I'd be just like Leo in Saint-Tropez"), was not present. James made sure to highlight this, enjoying his moment in the spotlight.
