Graham Norton Opens Up About His Marriage to Filmmaker Jono McLeod
Graham Norton's Rare Comments on Marriage to Jono McLeod

Television star Graham Norton has been married to Scottish filmmaker Jonathan 'Jono' McLeod for almost four years, and the couple are set to celebrate their fourth anniversary this summer. Despite his public persona, Norton has always kept his private life closely guarded, but in recent interviews he has offered rare glimpses into his marriage.

How Meeting Jono Changed Norton's Mind on Marriage

During a 2022 appearance on Ireland's The Late Late Show, Norton admitted that marriage had not previously been on his radar. He explained that meeting McLeod changed his perspective. 'As you get older, having had a string of failed relationships, you appreciate when something is right, you treasure it, you don't take it for granted and so put a ring on it,' he said.

The Wedding in Cork

Norton and McLeod tied the knot in 2022 at Bantry House, a historic 18th-century property in Cork, Ireland. The celebrations then moved to Norton's harbour home in Ahakista. Approximately 120 guests attended, with singer Lulu performing, drag queen Panti Bliss DJing, and Irish dancing group Cairde entertaining the crowd.

Rare Insight into Married Life

In a 2023 interview with The Guardian, Norton, who was in his late 50s when he married, shared a humorous anecdote from his wedding speech: 'I had a joke in my speech: the vows are much more manageable. “Till death do us part” seems more achievable at our age. If you get married at 23, that’s a big ask. We only have to put up with each other for a couple of decades. And then I’ll be out of here.'

In 2024, he told Attitude magazine that he is 'enjoying' married life. 'I was older, so I went into it with my eyes wide open. You know the pitfalls of relationships, the dangers. But I met someone who I was willing to take a bet on,' he said.

Norton currently hosts The Neighbourhood, which airs at 9pm on ITV on Friday April 24.
