Graham Norton has addressed speculation that he has been invited to Taylor Swift’s wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce, insisting he knows nothing about the event. The broadcaster also clarified earlier remarks about signing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) related to the pop star, which he said were intended as a joke.
Speaking at Advertising Week Europe alongside his podcast co-host Maria McErlane, Norton said: “I don’t know, no (I have not signed a non-disclosure agreement). I said that as a joke on the podcast, ‘oh I’ve signed all these NDAs’, and then it started getting reported as a serious thing in America.” He added that he had not corrected the reports because he thought the joke was obvious.
The Irish presenter appeared alongside other guests from his BBC chat show in Swift’s music video for “Opalite”, a track from her latest album The Life Of A Showgirl. Reflecting on the cameo, he quipped: “Often in your 60s you begin to give up on your dream of appearing in a major pop video, but it happened, and thank you very much, Taylor Swift.”
Norton also reflected on his long career, expressing gratitude for being able to “age in real time on television with an audience”. He noted that some of his earlier antics, such as running around with a microphone asking for sex stories, would now be deemed “creepy” if he attempted them at 60.
