Gorka Marquez made a savage dig at his fiancée Gemma Atkinson's past as a lads' mag model during the latest episode of their podcast, Lost in Translation. In an 'answer the internet' segment, the former Strictly Come Dancing professional was quick to respond to a question about what Gemma is famous for.
Gorka's Blunt Remark
When asked 'What is Gemma Atkinson famous for?', the 35-year-old quipped: 'Flash[ing] her tits.' He then added: 'Oh she's also an actress.' Gemma, 41, took the joke in stride. After she repeated the question to herself, Gorka replied: 'You're not famous first of all.' She responded: 'No, I work in the public eye. I've done every soap you can imagine my darlings, I run a business, and I was FHM's sexiest woman back in the day.' Cheekily, she then looked into the camera and said: 'Your dad'll know,' before winking.
Gemma's Lads' Mag Past
Earlier in the episode, Gemma talked about the time Gorka's father googled her and called his son to report: 'He googled images, and all my FHM, Nuts, Zoo, all the good old days…' The 41-year-old actress and model rose to fame at age 15 and became known for her appearances in so-called lads' mags in the noughties, as well as roles in Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, and Casualty.
In a 2021 Instagram post celebrating her 37th birthday, she reflected: 'Exactly 22 years ago I did my first ever photoshoot and stepped into the crazy world of “showbiz” as they call it. Looking back over the rollercoaster ride that got me here today turning 37 I've realised the one thing that's been consistent throughout is my supportive close knit family, my incredibly loyal friendships and my always reliable management team.'
How They Met
Gemma met Gorka while competing on the 2017 series of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, where she danced to the final with partner Aljaž Škorjanec. Gorka was paired with Alexandra Burke, who also finished as runner-up alongside Gemma. They confirmed their relationship on Valentine's Day 2018, and by the end of that year, Gemma was pregnant with their first child. Their daughter Mia is now seven, and they have a son, Thiago, born in 2023.
