Gordon Ramsay has spoken out about his daughter Holly's wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, defending his father-of-the-bride speech as 'perfect' despite the ongoing feud between the two families. Appearing on This Morning, the celebrity chef admitted it had been a 'tough' gig but stood by his performance.
Ramsay told presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard: 'Being a dad of three daughters, you dream of that moment. I was a hot mess but the speech was perfect, it went well. You’ve got to be warm and emotional but it was a tough gig.' His eldest daughter Tilly added that the speech 'made everybody cry' and needed no tweaks.
Holly and Adam married on 27 December at Bath Abbey, but only one of Adam's family members attended amid a reported rift. Adam's mother Caroline was uninvited after buying a dress the couple disapproved of, and she was also left out of Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse. The only Peaty family member present was Adam's sister Bethany, who served as a bridesmaid.
Ramsay's speech reportedly included digs at Adam's absent parents, with the chef telling Holly: 'Shame you don't have the same.' He also praised his wife Tana, saying she 'will be a good mum to them both.' Adam himself gave a speech vowing he would 'always choose' his wife, a phrase similar to one used by family friend Brooklyn Beckham after his own fallout with his parents.
