Ranvir Singh revealed her family has welcomed a newborn baby during Thursday's episode of Good Morning Britain, prompting co-host Adil Ray to offer his congratulations. The presenter shared the news during a segment focused on new dads campaigning for more parental leave and rights.
New addition to the family
As the cameras returned to the studio after a reporter spoke to those campaigning for more paternity time, Sean Fletcher laughed and said: "My kids are adults now and I know how expensive it is, actually it's still costing me loads of money."
Ranvir then added: "We've just had a newborn baby in our family in the last few days, and my nephew, little Avir, he's very, very cute, and his dad saved up every single day of annual leave this year, just so he can be at home."
She went on to say: "It is really difficult to manage," while Adil interjected to extend his congratulations to his co-presenter. Wrapping up the segment, Ranvir said: "Thank you so much Sean, if you've got any thoughts on that, let us know."
Presenter's private life
Ranvir, a single mother to her son Tushaan, whom she welcomed in 2012, typically keeps her personal life firmly away from public scrutiny. She became part of ITV in 2012, subsequently taking on the role of Good Morning Britain's Political Editor in 2014 before progressing to become one of the programme's principal presenters.
The update comes after Adil marked his return to Good Morning Britain. Adil and Ranvir are currently stepping in for Susanna Reid and Ed Balls over the summer break.
Adil's return to the show
Just weeks ago, Adil took to Instagram to share his return date, after first joining the programme in 2018. He was showered in support by fans after being off screens for "a while".
Adil wrote: "Some news! Yes I have not been on in a while but glad to be on a little over the coming weeks, on what remains one the most important shows on UK television, during the most important of times.
"Being one of the only (if not the only) Muslims to host a major news show in mainstream peak daytime. So many others have left the traditional outlets, so I am fortunate and grateful of the continued opportunity.
"And of course I aim to reflect us all, especially the Villa fans. Thank you for supporting me everyone, and I hope you will join us @gmb next Thursday."
He said he would be appearing on the show during upcoming Thursdays through July and August. Adil's followers rushed to share their support, with one writing: "Yay! Happy to see you back Adil."
"Can't wait," another wrote, as a third said: "Nice one, Adil x." Someone else commented: "Looking forward to tuning in…" Another echoed: "You have been missed!"
The pair join presenters like Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins on the show this month. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
