Good Morning Britain viewers have expressed delight after Paul Brand stepped in to co-host the ITV programme alongside Kate Garraway on Thursday (March 5). The show, which also featured Laura Tobin presenting weather and Ranvir Singh handling news, saw a positive reaction from fans on social media.
Many viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their approval. One wrote: '#GMB Quality this morning with @PaulBrandITV. Praise be!' Another said: 'Nice to see Paul on GMB today,' while a third simply added: 'Paul and Kate!' A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: 'Yay happy to see Paul this morning.'
This is not the first time Paul has filled in as host; he previously presented alongside Susanna Reid in November 2025 after Richard Madeley called in sick. Paul began his career as a production journalist at ITV Wales, later becoming a political correspondent for ITV Yorkshire and ITV Tyne Tees & Border. He joined the ITV News team in 2016 and became UK Editor of ITV News in 2021, also presenting ITV News at Ten and a show on LBC radio.
During Thursday's broadcast, Paul and Kate discussed the ongoing Middle East crisis following US and Israeli attacks on Iran. They reported that a British government-chartered rescue flight due to bring stranded Brits home from Oman had been delayed. Reporter Nick Dixon at Heathrow Airport said: 'A lot of confusion surrounding this flight... It appears it has been delayed until much later today.' The Foreign Office has yet to clarify the situation, leaving hundreds of passengers still stuck in the Middle East.
