Love Island star GK Barry has revealed the unconventional methods she uses to recover from a night out, including plunging her head into ice-cold water and listening to music with specific frequencies. She also recounted a wild incident in Ibiza where she had to be rescued from a fountain by friends.
Unorthodox Recovery Techniques
Barry, who has been enjoying the summer's World Cup Tournament, admitted that late nights often leave her dealing with hangovers. She shared her post-night-out routine: "What I do is I'll wake up and start the day by lying to myself I'm fine. Then I'll put on eye patches and dip my head in an ice-cold bowl of water. Two paracetamol, two ibuprofen, and I'm ready to attack the day. The world is my oyster."
She also relies on audio therapy: "When I used to live in Nottingham, I'd have to get the train from Nottingham to London for work after a big night out. I'd have to listen to music on YouTube with frequencies that are supposed to help a sore head and hope it would help. And to be fair, on some of my darkest days, it did do something."
Ibiza Fountain Rescue
Barry acknowledged she can occasionally go too far when letting her hair down, adding: "I tend to think I'm more sober than I actually are – even when I am pretty loose." Recalling a memorable evening in Ibiza, she said: "I was in Ibiza and we went to this restaurant with lots of meats, cheeses and wine. Let's just say I went a bit too heavy on the wine and too light on the meat. I ended up jumping into a fountain and nearly drowning. Thankfully I was rescued by my friends – including the Baggs brothers and Max Balegde. Then they had to carry me home – and to make things worse I dropped my phone in there. The next day I woke up looking like The Grudge. At least I was wearing a lovely pair of Hawaiian pyjamas, so every cloud has a silver lining."
Partnering with Tropicana
Barry joined forces with Tropicana Hydrate+ to distribute refreshments to Londoners, helping people recover from lengthy late evenings watching the football. When it comes to surviving late nights due to awkward kick-off times, she urged fans to get enough sleep: "I'd say make sure you sleep. I've never understood it when people are like, 'We're going to have to ride it out.' I have never been a 'ride it out' person. You need to go to bed, and you need to lie to yourself the next day you went to bed at 9pm. Make sure you chuck away your Oura Ring as well, which will tell you you're going to suffer."
Barry remains optimistic about England's prospects in the competition, responding: "God bless Harry Kane. A girl can dream!"
