Cristiano Ronaldo's fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, has given a glimpse into how she and their children are supporting the football star during Portugal's World Cup clash against Spain. Taking to Instagram, Rodriguez shared a sweet snap of their two children watching the match at home on a large television screen. One child sat on a Louis Vuitton trunk, while a younger child waved their hands in the air upon seeing his father on TV.
Family support from home
While the children watched from the comfort of their home rather than at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, they have been present in person for previous matches. Last week, the family traveled to Miami for Portugal's clash with Colombia, which ended in a draw. Rodriguez also shared images of herself cheering Ronaldo on from home during his record-breaking performance against Uzbekistan, where he scored two goals. In that Instagram post, she wore the Portuguese national shirt with Ronaldo's number, accessorized with a backwards cap and under-eye patches, captioning it simply: "Match day."
Ronaldo's final World Cup
This World Cup marks Ronaldo's last appearance for Portugal. At a press conference ahead of the round of 16 match against Spain, the 41-year-old confirmed, "I want to enjoy it as much as possible, because it will be my last World Cup, yes. But I hope that tomorrow won't be my last game in the World Cup." Ronaldo has represented Portugal since his debut in 2003, accumulating 146 goals in 232 appearances, making him the most prolific goalscorer in international football history.
Record-breaking achievements
Despite early criticism, Ronaldo broke a long-held record last month by becoming the first player to score in six separate World Cup tournaments. He netted twice against Uzbekistan in a 5-0 victory, reaching the 10-goal milestone in World Cup matches and surpassing the late Eusebio's national record of nine goals set in 1966. At 41 years and 138 days old, he also became the second oldest player to score in the competition, behind Cameroon's Roger Milla, who was 42 years and 39 days old.
