Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson has revealed what it was like dating Cristiano Ronaldo before he met his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez. Atkinson reportedly had a brief relationship with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner in 2007, while he was playing for Manchester United.
Ronaldo is due to marry Rodriguez this weekend in Madeira, the island where he was born and grew up. The couple have been together since 2016.
Quiet Evenings and Tea
Speaking in 2022, Atkinson disclosed that they enjoyed quiet evenings together, with Ronaldo proving a surprise fan of an iconic British television series. She said: "We went to my house, drank cups of tea and watched Only Fools And Horses. Genuinely! I don't know if he's into it now but he seemed to enjoy it."
The TV star also revealed that she received significant financial offers to discuss their romance, but she has consistently declined to share any information. The 41-year-old added: "When we did split up, I got offered so much money to speak about him. And I didn't want that."
Ronaldo's Career and Engagement
Ronaldo parted ways with Atkinson and Manchester, joining Real Madrid in 2009, subsequently establishing himself as one of football's all-time greats. The former United player and Rodriguez initially crossed paths in 2016.
Rodriguez announced the couple's engagement on social media in August 2025, telling her followers: "Yes I do. In this and in all my lives." She recently disclosed the heartfelt message from her husband-to-be after being targeted by cruel body shaming trolls.
She said: "I was talking about it with Cris and I told him, 'I'm worried that they're calling me fat now, because I make a living from my image'. And he replied, 'You don't live off your image. You live off who you are. A perfect woman. Beautiful, with a great body, a mother, a good person, successful, and who lives life with love. What more could you want? It's normal to be envied'. Sometimes we all need someone to remind us what truly matters."
