Pauline Richards, known as 'Miss KFC', who was the world's longest-serving KFC worker, has died aged 74. Mrs Richards began working at the branch in Taunton, Somerset, in 1978 and spent nearly five decades there, serving more than five million drumsticks.
Her funeral will take place on Wednesday, August 20. The procession will leave her home at 12:45pm and pass the KFC restaurant at the bottom of East Street at 1:15pm before continuing through Taunton, allowing the local community to pay their respects.
During her time at KFC, Mrs Richards worked in a variety of roles, including cleaner, cashier, supervisor, manager and team leader. Known as a well-liked figure around Taunton, she was recognised earlier this year as the company's longest-serving employee globally.
Her children, Wayne and Tracey Sutton, paid tribute to their mother, saying she was "kind, caring, generous and adored" by her family. They added that she "made people feel seen and valued" and that KFC was "more than just a job" to her.
Condolence books will be available at the KFC store on East Street for those unable to attend the procession. A wake will also be held at The Library bar, formerly Pitcher & Piano, at 5pm on August 20.
