Fritz and Riddle met on the celebrity dating app Raya in June 2020 and quickly became one of tennis's most famous couples. Riddle was a regular fixture in Fritz's player box, often captured by BBC cameras during Wimbledon coverage. However, the pair ended their relationship in April, and Fritz, the No. 6 seed at Wimbledon, has not publicly commented on the breakup.

Riddle addressed the split in a statement, saying: "When public relationships end, it's standard to do some sort of Instagram statement or video, and I tried to write that a few times, and I was just like, 'This is not me.' We're on good terms, so I wanted to make it more lighthearted than breakups usually are online."

Riddle also expressed relief that she had built her own career while traveling with Fritz. She added: "Say, hypothetically, I fully supported him and his career and didn't make my own money and didn't develop my own brand, what would I be doing now? Would I be back in Minnesota? If you don't have that autonomy and you don't make your own money and you want to leave [a relationship]…I just hope any WAG or woman can make that choice."
Fritz is set to face Alexander Bublik in the fourth round at Wimbledon on Monday evening, as he continues his quest for a quarter-final spot.
