Jamie Redknapp Opens Up About Sobriety and Fatherhood Challenges

Former Liverpool and Tottenham star Jamie Redknapp has spoken candidly about his personal life, admitting there are 'ups and downs' as he navigates fatherhood and sobriety. The 52-year-old football pundit, who remarried Swedish model Frida Andersson in 2021, said being a dad again to their son Raphael has its challenges but is 'nothing better'.

Redknapp, who shares sons Charley, 21, and Beau, 17, with ex-wife Louise, told the i: 'I am settled, which is a fortunate position. I’ve met an incredible person in Frida and we’ve got a beautiful little boy.' He compared his personal life to football, saying: 'Like football, there are ups and downs, but the good days are so worth it.'

The former England international also revealed he has been sober for 18 months, prompted by a hangover after his 50th birthday. Speaking on Romesh Ranganathan's podcast in October, he said: 'I never had a bad relationship with alcohol. I've always suffered terrible hangovers... That feeling of not memorising anything that happened was just horrendous for me.'

He also warned his former club Tottenham could face relegation after a poor run, telling Sky Sports: 'If Tottenham aren't careful they might be in a different league next season.'
