Four in a Bed Contestants Tearful After Payment Day Win

Norfolk property owners Phil and Gil were left in tears of joy on payment day after their Four in a Bed competitors called their stay 'perfection'. The couple, who run Old Hall Country Breaks, received glowing feedback from their rivals during a repeat episode broadcast on Saturday, July 11.

Emotional Reactions to Glowing Feedback

Phil and Gil's self-catered retreat had already been described as 'stunning' and 'amazing' by fellow competitors. Jack, another contestant, praised the stay, saying, 'It's like I'm visiting the King.' Guest Justin added, 'I could live here,' as all competing teams heaped praise on the establishment.

Upon reading the feedback, Gil said, 'I'm a bit speechless,' while Phil remarked, 'It's a competition that we came to win and it's all about the money that goes into the envelope.'

Payment Day Compliments

On payment day, the compliments continued. Jack stated, 'From the moment I opened the door, I felt the level of detail. With your attention to detail and you guys knowing what I want before I know I want it, it was one of the best stays ever.' Justin's partner Keighly declared it 'perfection,' prompting Gil to wipe away tears.

Gil, visibly emotional, said, 'You guys have really got me going now, that means everything. I'm a perfectionist, and it's not always easy. Knowing that you guys feel that we are right there, it means a lot.' He added through sobs, 'It's just because we've put a lot of our personal lives and everything to make that happen.'

Winning the Competition

After receiving the feedback, Phil told the camera, 'It was the stuff of dreams.' Gil added, 'They are our peers in the industry and to hear that brilliant feedback just meant a lot to us.' Unsurprisingly, the couple received a total £10 overpayment and were crowned winners that week.

Celebrating their win, Phil said, 'We are completely speechless by how you've made us feel today, and just blown away by it.' Gil also shared, 'We did have a bit of pressure coming into this competition with our price range and to have the overpayments meant a lot.' Both echoed, 'I'm speechless, it feels like a dream,' as they were called 'worthy winners' by their competition.

Phil concluded over a toast, 'Thanks to the best competitors we could have wished for,' and quipped, 'We always said we came to slay and not to play, we slayed!' Four in a Bed is available to watch on Channel 4.
