Fallout Season 3 Cast Update: Friends Star Lands Mystery Role
Fallout Season 3 Cast: Friends Star Joins Mystery Role

The already stellar cast of Prime Video's most successful series has just become even more formidable. The streamer's hugely popular adaptation, based on one of gaming's most beloved franchises, has confirmed a host of exciting new names set to join the fold.

Set in an alternate dystopian world some 200 years after the apocalypse, the show has captivated audiences worldwide since its debut. The second series, which landed last year, picked up seamlessly from where its predecessor left off, with Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins and Aaron Moten all reprising their roles as part of an already outstanding main cast. Amazon greenlit a further series well before season two had even begun streaming.

Now, according to Deadline, it has been confirmed that a string of high-profile guest stars have signed on. Among the new additions is Manny Jacinto, best known for The Good Place and Star Wars series The Acolyte, who has landed a recurring role. Joining him are Emily Mortimer, recognised for Doll and Em as well as her appearance in Friends, and Thomasin McKenzie, who has previously starred in Jojo Rabbit and Last Night in Soho, reports the Mirror.

Details surrounding their respective roles have yet to be revealed — hardly a surprise, given that the parts played by season two newcomers Macaulay Culkin and Kumail Nanjiani were kept firmly under wraps until their episodes dropped.

However, some eagle-eyed fans have wasted no time speculating about which characters they might portray, with many convinced they've cracked the casting puzzle. One viewer immediately suggested: "Colonel Hsu, Veronica, Cassidy." All three are characters that players encounter in the game Fallout New Vegas, which shares both characters and its setting with the second series.

Another fan questioned: "How do they not cast Emily as a member of the White Glove Society?" The White Glove Society operates one of the casinos in New Vegas. They previously belonged to a vault themselves and are persuaded by Mr House to abandon their former cannibalistic ways. However, one viewer simply offered: "New characters across the board if I had to guess."

This wouldn't come as much of a shock either, as the series has already introduced characters that weren't originally featured in any of the games. This applies to the three principal characters Lucy, the Ghoul and Thaddeus, portrayed by Purnell, Goggins and Moten respectively. Though occasionally they belong to groups or factions that are instantly recognisable, such as the lead characters comprising a vault dweller, a ghoul and a member of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Fallout is streaming on Prime Video.
