Eva Longoria's Marbella Beach Day with Family and Marriage Secrets Revealed

Eva Longoria, the celebrated actress from Desperate Housewives, enjoyed a delightful family day at the beach in Marbella, Spain, on Tuesday with her husband José Bastón and their son Santiago. The 51-year-old star, who is approaching her 10th wedding anniversary with the 57-year-old Mexican businessman next month, basked in the spring sunshine alongside her nearest and dearest.

Stylish Beach Outfit and Family Moments

The actress rocked a chic gingham bikini paired with a matching shirt as she soaked up the sun, accessorising her perfect beach look with dark sunglasses. She was seen doting on her seven-year-old son Santiago, while José looked casual in a long-sleeved top and dark trousers, holding hands with his stunning wife. The couple spent their day sunbathing before heading to a beach bar for lunch with friends, making the most of the coastal scenery.

Surprising Marriage Secrets Unveiled

In a recent exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Longoria revealed the surprising secrets behind her happy marriage to José, admitting that she does not consider her husband a 'best friend'. The pair began dating in 2013 and tied the knot three years later, with the actress noting that a key factor in their relationship is that they 'don't compete for attention'. She gushed about José, saying, 'He makes me laugh, and he's a really good partner, and he supports me in everything I do.'

Reflections on Motherhood and Career

Last year, Eva admitted that becoming a mother at the age of 43 was 'perfect timing', as she had 'done everything she needed to do in her career'. Speaking to The Sunday Times Style Magazine, she explained, 'You have so much more wisdom and patience.' She also insisted that she would not change anything about the challenging start to her career or her failed marriages, expressing love for the path she was on. Growing up in Texas, she first got the acting bug after winning a talent competition that led her to Los Angeles, where she was spotted and signed by an agent, landing her first TV gig with a small part on Beverly Hills, 90210.

Desperate Housewives Co-Star Insights

This comes after Eva's former Desperate Housewives co-star Jesse Metcalfe revealed why his time on the primetime series was short-lived. The 47-year-old actor, who played John Rowland, the gardener having an affair with Longoria's character Gabrielle Solis, was a guest on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. He explained, 'I was fired from Desperate Housewives. After the first season they didn't really know where else to take my storyline.' Creator Marc Cherry told him, 'This isn't Desperate House Gardeners, This is Desperate Housewives, so unfortunately you're not going to be a series regular moving forward on the show.' Instead, he was brought back intermittently, but he saw it as an opportunity, recalling, 'At that time I had been offered [the lead role in] John Tucker Must Die from 20th Century Fox, so I was like, hey, cool, no big deal. I'm going to be a movie star.'

Behind-the-Scenes Drama and Career Beginnings

Metcalfe further opened up to People magazine last August about his big break on Desperate Housewives, saying, 'I was just kind of riding the wave, you know, because that show really broke me and I had everything coming at me and I was just enjoying it.' The series, which also starred Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Nicollette Sheridan, was plagued by reports of behind-the-scenes drama during its eight-season run. However, Metcalfe claimed he was oblivious to any contention, stating, 'I was just happy to have a job. I went through an entire pilot season, I didn't book anything, and I tested for Desperate Housewives, which was a recast, right at the end of that pilot season and ended up booking it.'
