Former Royal Butler Explains 'Emotional' Reason for Harry and Meghan's UK Return
Emotional Reason for Harry and Meghan's UK Return, Insider Says

Former royal butler Grant Harrold has shared his thoughts on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's surprise return to the UK, suggesting Harry's worries about his father's health could be a driving factor.

Harry's Concerns for King Charles' Health

Appearing on GB News, the ex-employee of King Charles said the motive behind the homecoming stems from Harry's concerns about his father's wellbeing. Harrold stated: "In the next few years, if he were not here, he might regret the fact that he didn't spend this time with him."

Speaking to Breakfast hosts Stephen Dixon and Ellie Costello, he confessed: "I didn't see this coming...I've always said over the years, I always thought one day he would return, whether that be with Meghan or not....I think it's the speed of it. That's what I'm surprised. It was almost as if there was a rush, but it was obviously preplanned. And while he was here, he was obviously that was one of the things he was doing was going to visit the school that his children were going to go to."

Bond Between Father and Son

Harrold reflected on the bond between Harry and his father. "I think the one thing I'm aware of [is] that when he saw the king...we all know the king is obviously living with cancer. It's an ongoing battle....there may have been something."

He added: "Harry has said in that interview [he didn't] know how long he's his father got, which was a very strange thing. I thought it was very personal thing to discuss."

"You're aware that when people are fighting cancer, you're always in the positive, and thankfully a lot of people survive and get through it. But maybe he's maybe he's worried about his father, and maybe it's genuine," Harrold said.

"He wants to be near him, so he's there. Because the thing I've always said, Harry and his father were always very, very, very close. They were really close, and there was always this bond between the two of them, and with William, and maybe genuinely its someone he misses."

Meghan's Move and Security Concerns

Harrold noted Meghan's earlier reluctance to live in the UK. "For her to obviously make that move as well is really interesting."

"But again, whether this is a permanent move or whether it's going to be residing so many months here and so many months over there, I have no idea."

"But I think what is interesting is the security thing because Harry was adamant that that was a big issue, and now suddenly it's all just gone almost. So again, I don't know...if that was something that was resolved while he was here behind closed doors," he concluded.
