Emmerdale viewers are worried that a favourite character, PC Mike Swirling (played by Andy Moore), may have left the ITV soap after more than 20 years. The actor has been part of the show since 2004, making him one of the longest-serving recurring cast members.
Absence from screens
In recent months, PC Swirling has been noticeably missing from episodes, prompting concern among dedicated fans. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: "Where has he gone not seen him in ages?", reports the Daily Star.
Another commented: "What happened to him I miss him; hopefully he comes back to Emmerdale." A third added: "Yes where has he gone? Need him living in the village now."
Fan reactions
Sharing the same sentiment, a further fan posted: "Me too come on writers, we want him back! !" while a fifth remarked: "Yes bring him back we miss him," accompanied by a sad crying face emoji.
PC Swirling has regularly been seen dealing with the village's misdemeanours and is particularly familiar with the Dingle clan, including Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).
Andy Moore's career
Beyond Emmerdale, Andy Moore has built an impressive television career. His first soap appearance was in 2005 as a driver in two episodes of Coronation Street, and he returned to that show in 2010 as a photographer. He has also appeared in The Bill, The Royal, and Fred and Marv.
In 2022, Moore announced on Facebook that he starred in a music video for indie band Courting, sharing a YouTube link with the caption: "Andy Moore starring in a music video for indie band Courting."
During the pandemic, he created and featured in a 10-minute sketch called The Last Lockdown Sketch, published on YouTube. The description reads: "When your online consultation with your doctor goes one massive step further. The doctor instructs his patient through a step by step major operation procedure over Zoom." He added: "Hasn't the last couple of years been strange and frustrating. As a mark of coming out of it this film ridicules the weird time we have just come out of with elaborate exaggeration and a rather dark twist."
Where to watch
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
