Emmerdale's Nicola Wheeler teases Jimmy secret will leave fans angry

Emmerdale star Nicola Wheeler has admitted that another Jimmy King bombshell secret could leave fans both angry and surprised following his tragic death.

The actress first joined the ITV soap, which is filmed in Leeds, in 2001 as Nicola King. She originally appeared under her maiden name, Nicola Blackstock, before leaving in March 2006 and returning to the soap in 2007.

Nicola's evolution in the village

Over her two decades in Emmerdale, Nicola has evolved from an ambitious, manipulative character into a sharp-witted local business owner, community pillar, and half of one of the show's most iconic couples.

Jimmy King married Nicola back in 2010 after his previous marriage to Sadie King, who is set to return to Emmerdale this year. However, the wedding almost did not happen because Nicola faced court and probation for biting a child before rushing back to the village to tie the knot.

Jimmy's tragic death and hidden secrets

However, as fans will know, Jimmy sadly died as Dawn Fletcher and Joe Tate were set to get married after he crashed his car into the wedding marquee and was left unable to escape.

Leaving Nicola and their children behind, Jimmy hadn't told his wife about his mountain of debt or that he had sold his haulage business to Caleb and Ruby Miligan as his money struggles continued.

In an interview shared with Manchester Evening News, Nicola said: "She can't believe that life is going to exist without him (Jimmy), especially as the day was supposed to start with something very romantic, and it ended in tragedy."

Fans may feel angry and surprised

The soap star then quipped: "Why can't Nicola have lots of different relationships? I've tried to pit she should start going on dating apps and just get horrendous dates and really bad experiences. It would bring quite a bit of fun back into it."

Teasing another huge secret that Jimmy kept from Nicola, she added: "I think the audience is going be mighty surprised at the life Jimmy was leading that nobody knew about."

She explained that fans may feel "angry" and "surprised". She said: "It's unsettling because it's totally against his personality. You would never imagine that Jimmy in this world would behave like this."

As it's revealed that another car was involved in Jimmy's accident and the police found money in his car, Nicola added: "The money poses a problem because it looks exceptionally suspicious and it was money that they just didn't have. She is curious whether he was involved in something, and what the money was for?"

On top of all this, she's also grieving and try to take care of three children and making sure all of the businesses are staying afloat. Nicola then teased that there will be some "lovely" scenes with Kev Barton where it shows "two sides to both characters, two different sides".

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
