Emmerdale's Dawn and Billy 'to reunite' after Joe betrayal

Emmerdale's Dawn Fletcher could be heading for a reunion with her ex-husband Billy, as actress Olivia Bromley hints at a possible reconciliation. The couple, who split a year ago after Dawn's affair with Joe Tate, are currently at the centre of a dramatic storyline that has seen them plan a secret escape together.

Dawn's engagement to Joe Tate

Dawn, played by Olivia Bromley, is engaged to Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and expecting their first child together. However, their relationship has been fraught with complications, including Billy's recent attempt to kiss Dawn, which she quickly rejected. Caleb Miligan (Will Ash) later told Joe about the kiss, shortly before Billy was attacked at the depot. Although Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) was the attacker, Caleb convinced Billy and Dawn that Joe was responsible.

This led the former partners to secretly plan an escape with their three children, according to OK!. In the latest episode, available on ITVX, Billy and Dawn continued their arrangements while Joe departed for his stag do. They were intercepted by Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) and taken to a field, where Joe had organised a surprise 'sten do' instead. As the group prepared for a clay pigeon shoot, Dawn's aim wandered towards her fiancé, leaving Billy terrified.

Wedding week ahead

The drama comes before Dawn and Joe's much-anticipated wedding week in the Dales, which producer Laura Shaw described as "one of the biggest weeks of the year" for the programme. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Express at a recent press event, Bromley discussed her character's "historically poor" choices and whether she might reunite with Billy.

"Billy seems to hold a candle for Dawn the whole time and I think that's what's really interesting, and quite tragic actually, because maybe there's a version of this where maybe Billy and Dawn should [of been] together all along," she said. "We'll have to see, because she has really treated him badly, she really has. But people are flawed, people make mistakes and actually, maybe they're meant to come back to each other and be the support that they both need."

Dawn's wedding troubles

Hinting at the forthcoming nuptials, Bromley added: "Dawn doesn't have good luck with weddings, does she? They're never smooth sailing. In fact, the last one was like tragedy. I would say this is equally dramatic and not in a good way! I'm excited for you to see it."

Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
