Emmerdale fans think they've rumbled DS Ramsden's dad after Kim Tate twist
Emmerdale fans 'rumble' DS Ramsden's dad after Kim Tate twist

Emmerdale fans are convinced they have worked out the identity of Detective Thea Ramsden's father after the bombshell that Kim Tate is her mother. Last night, it was revealed that Thea, played by Chelsea Edge, was desperate to bring down Kim, portrayed by Claire King, because she is actually Kim's long-lost daughter who was put up for adoption.

Fan theories point to Steve Marchant or Graham

Now, fans have been trying to work out who the father might be - and it could be someone very close to home. There had been much speculation about who the dad could be amid the news about Thea's true identity.

One fan wrote: "I think Steve Marchant is the father, I think the flashback was late 1999," with another adding: "I'm thinking summer 1999 because there is a poster advertising something for September 4th."

"I thought late ‘99 due to seeing millennium bug posters too, this would have been the time Chris was kidnapped by his and Zoe’s half brother; Liam. One thing I didn’t get was we saw Kim leave in a helicopter on the run from justice, I assumed she went to Ireland but she appears to be elsewhere in Britain," a third shared.

Graham's return fuels speculation

Others are convinced Graham - who has made a spectacular return - could be the dad. One wrote: "They met between 1989-1999 so it is possible, it is also intriguing that Graham said that he "lost his daughter" because of his reckless actions. The more you think about it, it does seem like Thea could be his."

"It would be quite interesting for Graham to have a daughter of his own to be honest so I don’t hate that, plus once the inevitable feud is over with it might be nice for Kim to have more family. Just not loving how insufferable they’ve made Thea," another said.

Chelsea Edge on keeping the secret

Chelsea Edge - who plays Thea Ramsden - previously opened up about what it was like keeping the secret. Speaking about keeping the secret, Chelsea said: "I have loved joining Emmerdale and keeping this secret. I think it became apparent fairly quickly to the viewers that DS Ramsden and Serena already knew each other from their work in the police, but little did they know that was just the tip of the iceberg.

"The real mystery - that Kim is actually Thea's mother - was still to be discovered. I hope that now it’s out in the open the viewers will follow the story and see how Thea’s determination and bitterness develops. It's clear she’s very keen to understand why Kim, who seemingly has everything, status, wealth and power to give her away all those years ago. As to how far the apple falls from the tree… I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but there’s certainly a lot more drama to come."
