Emmerdale fans have expressed their fury as the villainous Dr. Caitlin Todd, portrayed by Caroline Harker, has departed the village seemingly without facing justice for her heinous actions.
Dr. Todd's Reign of Terror
For months, the twisted surgeon orchestrated a hate campaign against trainee Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant) before blackmailing Charity Dingle over her surrogacy secret. As viewers of the ITV soap will recall, Charity agreed to act as a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob, but she unexpectedly became pregnant with Ross Barton's (Michael Parr) baby. Charity then handed over baby Leyla to Sarah and Jacob, who believed they were the biological parents. When Dr. Todd discovered the truth, she attempted to blackmail Charity.
Desperate, Charity begged, borrowed, and stole money from friends and family, including stealing £30,000 worth of goods from Caleb Miligan's (William Ash) depot. However, she couldn't raise the full amount, leading Dr. Todd to sexually assault her.
Arrest and Release
On Wednesday, June 10, Dr. Todd was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. During her police interview, she lied, claiming the encounter was consensual and that Charity's allegations were false. DS Reid (Angela Lonsdale) was forced to release Todd pending further forensic tests. Later, Charity was informed that her physical examination was inconclusive, meaning Todd could not be charged at that time. Charity was left devastated.
Outside the police station, Dr. Todd bid farewell to Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) and Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) before driving off toward Sheffield, waving at Charity from her car window.
Fan Outrage
Emmerdale viewers were furious that Todd appeared to escape without consequences. Taking to social media, one fan wrote: "What? That's it? Todd gets away with everything she's done." Another said: "Dr. Todd is absolutely evil personified, vile to the core!!! She needs locking up! This can not be the end of it with her, surely! She can not get away with this!"
A third urged: "I really hope they don't let Dr. Todd get away with sexually assaulting Charity." Others questioned if this was truly the end, with one fan posting: "Is this the end of Dr. Todd? Is there no comeback from her bullying or blackmail?" Another added: "That surely can't be the end of Dr. Todd!! Charity deserves justice!!"
