Emmerdale viewers have voiced their disappointment after Jimmy King crashed his car into the Tate wedding marquee, fearing the incident could mark the end of the long-running character. The crash left Jimmy bleeding and unconscious, with Dawn and Joe also lying on the ground amid the destruction.
Jimmy's Emmerdale history
Jimmy, played by Nick Miles, first appeared in Emmerdale on February 19, 2004, as part of the newly introduced King family, alongside his father Tom and his brothers. He married Nicola in 2010, following his previous marriage to Sadie King, who is set to return to the soap this year. Their wedding nearly did not take place after Nicola faced court and probation for biting a child before rushing back to the village to marry.
Recently, Jimmy has been concealing a large amount of debt from Nicola, even selling his family business to Caleb and Ruby. In an effort to reignite the romance in their relationship, he planned to renew their wedding vows.
The wedding day crash
On Wednesday, August 26, the vow renewal ceremony took place, but Caleb Miligan disrupted the occasion by telling Joe about Dawn and Billy's escape. Dawn, having learned that Billy lied about the attack, came face to face with a self-destructive Joe who had been drinking, and made an emotional plea for them to still marry. Just before Joe could respond, Jimmy's car crashed through the marquee.
Viewers must wait to learn the fate of the three characters as their lives hang in the balance. However, many are concerned for Jimmy following unconfirmed reports that actor Nick Miles would be leaving the soap.

On social media, fans have shared their disappointment at the possibility of Jimmy's exit. On X, @charityslimo wrote: "If this is how Jimmy dies, I am SO disappointed- they missed the opportunity of him & sadie reuniting (assuming she returns for his funeral then) & he’s died in a storyline unrelated to him! loved joe & dawn though!"
@thatsmypeachx added: "If that's how we lose Dawn and Jimmy" followed by a broken heart emoji. On a Reddit thread, u/environmental-tea-48 said: "Is that it for Jimmy then? I was likely never going to be happy with his exit storyline but I honestly think the character deserves better than just to be a tool in the Dawn/Joe drama."
