Emmerdale newcomer DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) has been keeping secrets since arriving in the village earlier this month. The detective launched an investigation into the death of Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker).
ITV soap viewers know that Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) accidentally killed the villainous doctor, but her grandmother, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), stepped forward to take the blame. Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) helped Charity make the crime look like self-defence by using Dr Todd's lifeless arm to scratch Charity. Serena fled before officers arrived, though it was later revealed she shared a close friendship with Thea.
Thea's Secret Mission Against Kim Tate
Thea is also determined to uncover damaging information on Kim Tate (Claire King) for reasons not yet explained, according to the Daily Star. "This is our only chance, Serena. Get me what I need on Kim Tate, so I can finally take her down," Thea previously declared.
As Thea continues to infiltrate Home Farm undetected, many Emmerdale viewers have confused her with another Dales character. Some soap fans believe Thea bears an uncanny resemblance to Home Farm resident Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), who is preparing to file for divorce from her ex-husband, Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).
Viewers Voice Confusion Over Resemblance
During the latest episode on Thursday (August 20), now streaming on ITVX, Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) asked Gabby whether she could speed up the divorce so Vinny could marry his son, Lewis (Bradley Riches). Vinny had reservations. "It's just all happening a bit quick, isn't it?" he confided in Gabby at The Hide. Gabby responded: "I mean, you never know, Vinny. If you don't take this chance, you might regret it. I mean, I definitely don't regret me and you... So, if your heart does tell you to go for this, I think you should listen."
ITV viewers were struck by Gabby's resemblance to DS Ramsden. One Reddit user commented: "They should have picked another actress to play DS Ramsden. She looks so much like Gabby from certain angles that I'm getting confused thinking she's actually Gabby." Another added: "I'm getting Gabby x Debbie from her, keeps throwing me off." A third remarked: "I thought the same! She also isn't very likeable. Cops usually aren't but she seems full of herself."
What's Next for Thea's Scheme?
Thea was seen lurking around Home Farm this week, while Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) surprised his fiancée, Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley), with a combined stag and hen party. Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) then turned up to speak with the detective, moments before cautioning her that he could contact the Chief Constable. Whether Graham will expose Thea's covert revenge scheme remains to be seen.
