The appearance comes after Rowling posted a 700-word statement on X (formerly Twitter) addressing Watson's comments on the Jay Shetty podcast. In the podcast, Watson had spoken about her relationship with Rowling, saying she wished a conversation had been possible and that she hoped to keep loving people with differing opinions.
Rowling's statement accused Watson of ignorance, claiming the actress has 'so little experience of real life she's ignorant of how ignorant she is.' Rowling also referenced a handwritten note Watson had sent her during a period of intense threats, stating that Watson had 'publicly poured more petrol on the flames' while offering a one-line apology.
Rowling acknowledged that Watson and her co-stars have the right to embrace gender identity ideology, but criticised them for continuing to critique her views publicly years after their work on the Harry Potter films ended. She expressed disappointment that Watson, despite her wealth and fame, fails to understand the realities of life that Rowling and others face.
