Lady Gaga has debuted a striking new hair colour, dubbing it ‘Suzie’s Ocean Blonde’ in honour of her hairstylist’s late mother. The 34-year-old singer shared a selfie on Instagram on Friday, lounging in white lingerie with sea green and platinum locks.
In the caption, Gaga wrote: ‘Hello Merpeople. Rocking colour by @fredericaspiras named after his mother who just passed...Suzie’s Ocean Blonde.’ She added: ‘I love you Freddie this was extra special glamour with love.’ Frederic Aspiras has worked with Gaga at Haus of Gaga since 2009 and earned an Emmy nomination for his work on American Horror Story: Hotel.
Aspiras announced his mother Suzie L. Nguyen’s death in mid-July, posting a childhood photo-booth strip on Instagram. He explained she died from complications of lung disease following lung cancer surgery earlier this year. ‘She made me who I am today,’ he wrote, asking fans to show love in her memory.
The hairstylist previously said his mother, a Vietnamese immigrant and hairdresser, owned a salon in San Francisco and was a strong role model. He praised Gaga for her clear vision and trust in her team.
Gaga’s new post comes a day after she confirmed she will perform at this year’s virtual MTV Video Music Awards, her first appearance at the show in seven years.
