Ella Bright, the 19-year-old star of Amazon Prime's 'Off Campus', has addressed concerns over the nine-year age gap with her co-star Belmont Cameli, who is 28. The series, based on Elle Kennedy's bestselling books, premiered on 13 May and follows the romance between music major Hannah Wells (Bright) and hockey player Garrett Graham (Cameli).
Speaking on the 'Not Skinny But Not Fat' podcast on 26 May, Bright assured fans that she was fully informed about the role's requirements. 'I came into this job with more than enough information and understanding of what this role required,' she said. 'I just fell in love with Hannah and these scripts immediately.'
The British-American actress acknowledged fans' concerns but emphasised her comfort on set. 'Not once did I feel left out from being younger than everybody. We’re all such a family,' she said, adding, 'I’m good. I’m completely good.'
Showrunner Louisa Levy ensured the actors were aware of the steamy scenes before signing on. Bright noted that her character required partial nudity, while her on-screen friend Allie, played by Mika Abdalla, required full nudity, reflecting their differing personalities. 'Everyone had full understanding of what we were going into,' Bright concluded.
