Fans of Echo and the Bunnymen were left furious after the band cancelled their Manchester concert just minutes before they were due on stage. The show, part of their 'More Songs To Learn and Sing' UK tour, was scheduled for last night at Manchester's Albert Hall but was postponed due to ill health among band members.
The venue announced the cancellation on Facebook, stating: 'Unfortunately, tonight’s Echo and the Bunnymen show has been postponed due to ill health amongst the band. Fans are advised to keep hold of their tickets and await further information. We truly apologise for any inconvenience caused.'
Fans took to social media to express their anger at the short notice. The venue responded to complaints, saying: 'So sorry, we were only informed at the last minute too. We can only apologise.'
Echo and the Bunnymen, formed in Liverpool in 1978, are known for hits like 'The Killing Moon' and 'Lips Like Sugar'. Despite the cancellation, the band confirmed they plan to perform in Bristol tonight, writing: 'Following the disappointment of having to cancel our recent Manchester show due to illness in the band, we wanted to say a sincere thank you to everyone for your understanding and support. We are currently planning to perform in Bristol tomorrow night and are really looking forward to getting back on stage.'
