EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas and his wife Katina Hind are expecting their first child. The actor, who played Anthony Moon on the BBC soap, shared a baby scan picture with the caption: "Baby Lapinskas 2027."
A 'Little Miracle' on the Way
In an emotional post, Matt said the couple had been "hoping, dreaming and wishing" for this moment for years and called the baby their "little miracle." He wrote: "Our greatest role yet… coming 2027. After a long time hoping, dreaming and wishing for this moment, our little miracle is finally on the way."
He added: "Our hearts are completely full, and we feel incredibly blessed to be stepping into our new roles as Mum & Dad. Life has always been an adventure, but this next chapter is one we’ve dreamed of more than anything. We can’t wait to meet you, little one. The Lapinskas family is growing by one. Our next role begins in 2027…"
Congratulations from Co-Stars
Matt's co-stars were quick to offer their congratulations. Tony Discipline, who played his on-screen brother, wrote: "Amazing news," alongside a heart emoji. Amelia Lily shared: "Congratulations guys! So so happy for you both."
Matt and Katina got engaged in 2024 and married last year in Buckinghamshire. Ahead of their wedding, Matt shared a tribute to his then-fiancée, saying she taught him what love truly is. He wrote at the time: "Tomorrow I get to marry my best friend! My past my present and my future, I will be so proud to say ‘I do’ you have taught me what love truly is. I love you! Can’t wait to celebrate with all those we love bring on the party Karina, let’s do this see you tomorrow future Mrs Lapinskas x."
Life After Walford
Matt played Anthony on EastEnders until 2012, when his contract wasn't renewed and his character left Walford. Speaking about his exit, he shared: "When Lorraine Newman came in I went up to have a meeting with her and she told me they weren’t renewing my contract. I was like, ‘Oh. Ok’"
He added: "We went to an awards ceremony the next couple of days, someone said to me and Tony [Discipline] (who played Tyler Moon), because we always used to do interviews together, ‘The Moon boys have taken the Square by storm, we can’t wait to see what’s next for you.' But I’d been told I wasn’t allowed to say that I was leaving. So it was a moment of like, ‘Oh… it’s going to be good!'"
