EastEnders Linda exit sparks Mick return demands

Linda Carter is set to leave EastEnders after 13 years, and fans are hoping for a reunion with Mick Carter before her exit.

Kellie Bright arrived in Walford in 2013 as Linda alongside her husband, Mick (Danny Dyer), as the new owners of The Queen Victoria pub. Linda has since been involved in major storylines, including alcoholism, sexual assault, and the murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters). She has also been left heartbroken after Mick was presumed dead after being lost at sea on Christmas Day 2022.

Mick's disappearance

Following a romantic reunion, Mick vanished into the ocean after jumping off a cliff to rescue his ex-wife, Linda, and his pregnant wife, Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), following a high-speed car chase to Dover. In a devastating twist, Linda and Janine made it out of the water safely, but Mick never resurfaced. After a search, his body was never found by the police, leaving him listed as missing and legally presumed dead.

The news has since left Linda heartbroken and unable to overcome the loss of her beloved childhood sweetheart, Mick, as she navigated a new life as a single mother.

Fans demand a reunion

EastEnders fans are now demanding Mick returns to reunite with Linda before she waves goodbye to Walford, and they live happily ever after. Taking to Instagram, one person wrote: "I see this coming if Danny ain’t back for her exit, we riot." A second stated: "IF YOU DON'T BRING MICK CARTER BACK FOR HER LAST EPISODE," as a third urged: "Let it be that Mick comes back, and they have their happy ending."

"Let her find Mick at the end!", demanded one fan as another pointed out: "Better be Mick coming back, that would make sense as Janine is also coming back." "I'm thinking that Danny Dyer will reprise his role for her exit storyline, and they both leave together", explained another. "I think that would be quite a beautiful way to go, that Mick does return and she’s reunited with him and they exit for a new life away from The Square and all its bad memories for the pair of them."

Why is Linda Carter leaving EastEnders?

EastEnders announced on Saturday evening (August 8) that Kellie Bright would be leaving her role as Linda Carter. Kellie had decided over a year ago to exit the BBC soap but stayed on-screen for an "exciting" storyline.

She said: "EastEnders has been my home for thirteen years and I have absolutely loved being part of the show, but I have decided that it is now the right time for me to say goodbye. I made the tough decision over a year ago, and after discussing this with Kate Oates and Ben Wadey, they asked me to stay on to be part of an exciting storyline they had planned, and I happily agreed to extend my stay."

Kellie added: "I will miss my friends and colleagues hugely, but I am looking forward to my next chapter and spending more time with my wonderful boys." Linda Carter's exit date is yet to be confirmed.
