Diandra Douglas, the former wife of Hollywood actor Michael Douglas, has remarried at the age of 69. Her new husband is William Legge, the Earl of Dartmouth, who is the stepbrother of the late Princess Diana. The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony at a registry office in Gibraltar last week, according to reports.
Diandra Douglas, a film producer, will now be known as the Countess of Dartmouth. She was married to Michael Douglas for 22 years before their divorce in 1995, which resulted in one of the largest divorce settlements in Hollywood history, reportedly exceeding $45 million. The pair met when Diandra was a 19-year-old student and Michael was 32; they married six weeks later and had a son, Cameron, in 1978.
William Legge, 75, is the son of Raine Spencer, who married Princess Diana's father, John Spencer, the 8th Earl Spencer. He was a member of the European Parliament for the UK Independence Party (UKIP) and has strong ties to Gibraltar, having represented the territory. He was previously married to Fiona Campbell, a former model, and has a son from a relationship with television producer Claire Kavanagh.
Both Diandra and William have connections to Gibraltar and Spain. Diandra kept part of her Spanish home in Majorca after her divorce, while William represented Gibraltar in the European Parliament. The wedding took place in Gibraltar, where the earl has historical links.
Michael Douglas, 80, has been married to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones since 2000. The couple have two children, Dylan and Carys, and have recently become empty nesters, splitting their time between Bermuda and Europe.
