Katie Alexander, the girlfriend of GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes, has said she has received death threats since falling in love with the 66-year-old TV host. Alexander, 45, began dating Holmes in 2024 after the breakdown of his marriage to This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford.
The relationship has drawn recent media attention amid reports that Alexander had been asked to leave the apartment she and Holmes had shared for the past two years. Reports suggest there is 'no love lost' between Alexander and Holmes' former partners, who are said to have left her feeling 'cut out' of his care plans after he suffered a stroke in April.
Alleged threats and police involvement
A source told The Sun that Alexander has been under significant strain after receiving malicious threats while also dealing with Holmes' health. The source also claimed that police are investigating emails and letters sent to Alexander, including one that threatened to chop her head off.
Alexander reportedly told a friend: 'I fell in love with a man who made me feel safe, who encouraged me to be myself, and who loved and accepted me for me. I was thrust into the limelight and suddenly blamed for everything that went wrong with Eamonn. I became the accused — and a talking point for the nation.'
She said she was 'advised to say nothing' when facing such claims, even though she wanted to 'defend herself' and 'tell her truth.' She criticised trolls sending her hateful messages, saying she was being 'judged for simply falling in love.'
Impact on family and personal struggle
'I had death threats sent to my work email, and letters to my home address threatening to decapitate me,' she claimed. 'Not only was I trying to protect myself, I had to protect my children from online abuse, and from being picked on at school. It has been two-and-a-half years of pure hell. It became too much to endure.'
Alexander alleged that she had a 'breakdown' due to the levels of abuse she received, and that her children had 'kept her alive.' She added: 'Knowing what was the truth in my own life — so different to what was being portrayed publicly — was torture. The attacks were very personal.'
The trained counsellor told her friend: 'People can't fathom I like older men. I have a history of relationships with men older than me. People thought, 'she must be with Eamonn for his money'. That's such an untrue, one-dimensional reaction.'
Relationship details and current status
Alexander said she 'refused Eamonn's generosity so many times,' declining to let him pay '£15.99 for a film on TV' and asking him to wait until it became free to watch. She described their arrangement: 'Despite being so far apart geographically, we lived together half of the week. We made it work. He was — and still is — my partner. And when we were together we did everything together.'
She spoke about their dynamic: 'I gave him a sense of worth. He became softer after years of antagonism. He spoke of his feelings in more depth. I told him that if he can't communicate with me we can't be together. It seemed alien to him to be able to have a conversation and not an argument or shouting match, even if we disagreed.'
Despite reports that Alexander has moved out of their home, a source insisted the couple are still together. The source told The Sun on Sunday: 'Katie is still very much together with Eamonn and in love, but she's moved out of the flat. It's an incredibly sad situation — she loved it there, and the time they spent together making it home. Katie has been Eamonn's rock and lifeline since he fell ill. She's willing him to get back to full fitness and get their lives back on track.'
