Eamonn Holmes' Partner Katie Alexander Turns to Prayer Following His Stroke
Katie Alexander, the girlfriend of veteran television presenter Eamonn Holmes, has been praying for him every day after he was hospitalised following a stroke. The 66-year-old GB News host was found slumped and unconscious at his home in Kingston upon Thames, South West London, and rushed to hospital on Tuesday, April 7.
Devout Christian Finds Solace in Faith
Friends reveal that Alexander, a relationship counsellor and devout Christian, has been beside herself with concern during what they describe as an incredibly emotional and rollercoaster week. She has reportedly visited church to pray in solitude, seeking comfort in her faith after spending quality time with Holmes over the Easter weekend.
Katie has been praying for Eamonn every day, a source told The Sun. She's been to church to pray in solitude - she's a devout Christian and is in shock. Fortunately, Eamonn's on the road to recovery. Katie has been by his side in hospital pretty much all the time, except to get a change of clothes at home. She loves him dearly and is doing all she can to help.
Holmes' Health Struggles and Current Condition
Holmes has been battling chronic health issues for several years, including:
- A dislocated pelvis resulting in three slipped discs
- A fractured shoulder from tumbling down stairs during recovery from pelvic surgery
- Ongoing pain following spine and neck procedures in 2023
- Increasing difficulty walking, even falling from his seat during a live GB News broadcast
The TV legend, who relies on a wheelchair and carers, had been expected to return to his breakfast programme on Monday, April 13, but will now be off air for the foreseeable future. He hasn't been seen on screen since March 11, when viewers expressed concern after he appeared to nod off during an interview.
Family Updates and Support
Holmes' estranged wife, Ruth Langsford, has reportedly been kept informed about his condition through their 23-year-old son, Jack. Meanwhile, his other son, 37-year-old Declan Holmes, spoke on behalf of the family, thanking well-wishers and offering reassurance.
What happened came as a real shock, Declan said in a statement, but dad is doing OK given the circumstances and we're taking it one step at a time. For now, we're focused on him and keeping things steady around him.
Official Statement from GB News
In an official statement, Holmes' employer confirmed: Eamonn was taken ill last week and it was later confirmed he had suffered a stroke. He is currently responding well to treatment. Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better. His colleagues and everyone at GB News wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the People's Channel when he is ready to return.
As Holmes continues his recovery journey, Alexander remains steadfast in her support, combining practical care with spiritual devotion during this challenging time for the broadcasting icon and his loved ones.
