Dolly-Rose Campbell: Life Beyond Coronation Street's Gemma

Dolly-Rose Campbell, best known for playing Gemma Winter on Coronation Street for a decade, leads a life far removed from her on-screen persona. The actress, born in Salford on 12 April 1987, attended youth theatre in Bolton and studied at Manchester's Arden School of Theatre before landing the role of Gemma in 2013.

Before her Corrie fame, Campbell worked as a bartender and in radio hospitality. She recalled, 'I've worked behind a bar in real life... it came in handy for pulling pints in the Rovers Return.' She auditioned for the part while on a tour of Weatherfield, and got the call days later.

Off-screen, Campbell is low-key, enjoying time with her dog, knitting, and collecting art. She owns her first home and is a regular at Islington Mill, an arts hub in Manchester. Despite an estimated net worth of £1 million, she volunteers at Emmeline's Pantry, a women-run food bank in Manchester.

Campbell came out as bisexual in 2019, crediting Manchester Pride for helping her accept her sexuality. She said, 'The love and acceptance shown by the people of Manchester allowed me to accept my bisexuality and be proud of who I am.' She remains private about her relationship status.
