Disney star Carla Jeffrey dies suddenly aged 33

Carla Jeffrey, best known for playing cheerleader Bree in Disney Channel's Zombies franchise, has died aged 33. Her representatives confirmed the sudden death in a statement issued via her Instagram account on Tuesday.

Statement from representatives

The statement read: "It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffery, who passed away on 1 September, 2026, at just 33 years old. Carla joined the Alexanders Talent Management Family at the age of 12. For more than 20 years, we had the privilege of watching her grow into a beautiful, vibrant and incredibly talented woman whose radiant smile could light up any room."

It continued: "As Bree in Disney's hit Zombies franchise, Carla shared her joy, humour and bright spirit with audiences around the world. Carla was more than a client she was family. We respectfully ask that their privacy be honoured as they grieve this imaginable loss. Our hearts are with Carla's family and loved ones during this devastating time."

Brother's tribute

The statement concluded: "Rest beautifully, Carla. Your light will never be forgotten." No cause of death has been reported at this time.

Carla's brother Carlon Jeffrey, who is also an actor, shared a text message he sent to his sister before receiving the tragic news. It read: "Hey Sis, call me back when you get this... I was just calling to see how your day went! I love you to the moon and back."

He accompanied the post with a tribute saying, "I want you to know how proud I am of you". Carlon continued: "Your resilience. Your grace. Your infectious smile that lights up a room. You are truly a light that shines bright. Don't let anyone dim your light... even yourself."
