Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond Emotional Over Olly Murs' Soccer Aid Triumph
Dermot O'Leary Emotional Over Olly Murs' Soccer Aid Win

This Morning presenters Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond were left emotional during a touching segment on the ITV show. The pair were hosting on Friday (May 15) when they witnessed Olly Murs complete his grueling Soccer Aid challenge.

Olly Murs had been running, cycling, and rowing close to 250 miles between Manchester and London to raise money for children's charity UNICEF. The programme cut to the finish line, where Olly broke down in tears as he hugged his wife Amelia and family.

"It's been a tough week," he said, admitting he was "in bits." "My quad today, that run from central London to here, oh, it was so painful. But I just kept thinking, 'I've got to get to the end.' I can't even stand."

As This Morning returned to the studio, the hosts looked visibly moved. Dermot said: "Olly we are so proud of you, mate. Well done. Absolutely amazing."

"You're making us emotional," said Alison, as Dermot agreed, admitting they were both "still broken."

"Honestly, we're so proud of you," Alison continued. "You have absolutely smashed that. And imagine all those children that you are going to help... Honestly, you're like a different person to me now. You have literally, I just can't believe how incredible you are. Do you even know how amazing you are?"

"Oh, don't say that, Alison," replied a tearful Olly, who has raised over £832,000 so far. "I'm just a normal guy that got lucky, and I've had an amazing career. I love my job. And I love being able to do this. And, you know, to be given the opportunity from Soccer Aid, you know, it's been an amazing part of my life. So to be able to do this and to raise that sort of money, I'm just really proud of myself and proud of the fact that, you know, Soccer Aid, still to this day, is such a huge charity that does so much with UNICEF to help kids around the world."

As the segment ended, Dermot said to Alison: "God, that fills your heart, doesn't it?"

"It got me," his co-host agreed. "When he started crying, I was like, I was gone, I had goosebumps."

This Morning airs at 10am on ITV on weekdays.
